Answers to questions hardly asked
A lot of sites have this kind of section with the same ol' questions, so I waited until I could adapt my own with personal takes that could be applied more to... well, me. In some areas, I'll try to answer specifically, but if you still aren't satisfied, then go ahead and contact me. Chances are I won't get to your email for a while if I'm busy. If it's a matter that requires urgent attention, I'll let you know. Apologies in advance.
- Are you willing to teach me how to do such and such?
I don't know how to answer this, to be honest. It all depends how well I know you and how difficult of a subject it is to learn and/or teach. Chances are, I might lead you to some excellent reference sites if it's something too cumbersome for me to explain. It's all right for you to read my coding and understand what's going on since I did the same with most of my friends in the past. Learning by example is fine as long as you know know to apply some of your own elements to it.. I can't stress that enough. - What are your special tools for webdesigning?
Most of my graphics are made with Adobe Photoshop 7.0. (If anyone asks, I've just been too lazy to upgrade to CS2 even though I was given the opportunity for Christmas.) Pages are coded in Araneae 5.0.0. Scripts are found through Google, but a vast variety may be found at Dynamic Drive. - Do you do any webdesigning for money? May I commission you?
I'm always pleased to hear this, but I get tongue-tied when trying to answer. For starters, I'm not a professional webdesigner. A lot of the things I do are completed at a snail's pace since I'm my own boss. I'm not accustomed to a lot of deadlines, and I tend to finish past a lot of the personally set ones for myself. So any client of mine would most likely give up on a commissioned website; I'd put in a lot of time and effort only to procrasinate and not get paid in the end.
Second, a lot of what I use is not allowed for commercial work. I depend on downloaded textures and brushes that are meant for personal use. So the quality of a website you might be looking for wouldn't match anything I present here. I'd rather not stumble upon any legal complications in any business exchange.
Third, I'm sure there are lot more reliable and able firms that can help you with your site needs. I can't offer any suggestions, but I do know that there are plenty out there that are looking for work. However, if you're absolutely insistent on me doing some work for you, I might just agree. I just have to adjust my work ethics and my usual tools of the trade in order to comply. - Can we affiliate?
From what I understand, it seems that I intimidate a lot of people and most people send me emails that are a bit timid in asking for affiliation. I assure you that I don't bite... I just neglect my email inbox a lot. On some accounts, I've taken several months to reply to some affiliation requests. Rest assured, link exchanges are a matter of business for me. So if you ask, I'll link you. It may take weeks or even months for me to get it up though. Sometimes, if I run across your site and see that you've linked to this domain, I'll take the liberty of reciprocating the gesture. - May I use your graphics?
All right, so this is not a question anyone asks me, but I witness people constantly taking the liberty of using part of an image coming from a layout I modified for their own needs, such as icons, wallpapers, and (even) music videos. It's not that I feel robbed; the feeling is so strange because I can't quite understand why anyone would do that, especially since the original images are floating around on the internet for grabs. I've been teaching myself not to be quite so bothered by this, but I can't help the aggravation. Not a lot of people understand how long the process is for me in Photoshop, to get an image quite right enough for coding. I take insanely long amounts of time to get things done, mostly averaging around a couple of weeks. This is before I even start coding. (If you think I'm crazy, then you're right in doing so because I am.) This response isn't supposed to come off vindictive, but I just want people to understand that this kind of action strikes me in the wrong way. Some would think it's flattering, but it's very much the opposite. But if you plan on doing anything like this in the future, credit the site you got it from... Just do that much.
